Black Friday have always been a day shoppers look forward to, in The United States, the birth place of “Black Friday” it comes a day following Thanksgiving. Recently it has lived up to its name ”BLACK” Friday because of the recorded number fight and brawls that tend to be increasing every year.
Since 2006, there have been 7 reported deaths and 98 injuries throughout the United States. With the advanced technology and online shopping it leaves many wondering why a significant number of shoppers will camp out over the Thanksgiving holiday in an effort to secure a place in front of the line and thus a better chance at getting desired items when they can order the same items in the comfort of their home and have them delivered at their doorstep.
It is safe to say that the World has copied this movement, On November 29, 2013, Konga.com crashed and remained offline for 45 minutes as a result of unprecedented traffic stemming from its Black Friday promotion. Konga sold more during the first six hours of the promotion than it did in the prior month.
Similar Online giant, Jumia, was too generous to customers by offering staggering 12 days of Black Friday promotional deal in the following categories : fashion, electronics, phones, computers, home, baby, health and beauty – up to 70% discount of regular prices with over 100,000 deals from 2,500 vendors
Violence between shoppers is a big concern for shop owners and all measures introduced to curb it has proved abortive.
